Back to School Fundraiser

Some partnerships feel like they were meant to happen. This summer, Luxan joined forces with our longtime friend Faisal Zaben, the owner of a beloved Middle Eastern restaurant Sal's Howdaj, for a cause close to both our hearts, a Back to School Fundraiser to support youth in our community.

From July 29 to August 6, 20% of all restaurant sales went directly toward funding back-to-school resources. But the generosity didn’t stop there. Together, Sal's provided 50 free meals, and 50 backpacks filled with supplies, ensuring that students could start their school year with dignity, confidence, and the tools they need to succeed.

For us, this was more than charity, it was personal. We both share the experience of coming from refugee backgrounds, carrying vivid memories of times when the community showed up for us. We remember what it felt like to be on the receiving end of kindness, to feel seen and supported when resources were scarce.

This fundraiser was our way of paying that forward, of telling the next generation, “We see you, we believe in you, and you matter.”

At Luxan, we believe giving back is a cycle. The help we once received is now the help we give. And with partners who share that vision, we know we can keep building a community where no child starts their journey alone.
